Radical Change!
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members (Romans 7:22–23).
Paul, writing as a believer, says, “My spirit loves the Word, but my flesh thinks differently. In fact, the two are in radical conflict with one another.” When you make Jesus the Lord of your life, your body does not undergo a physical change. Your body is still the same old, tired flesh you have had your entire life, and it may still want to drink, smoke, sleep around, tell people off, party, or curse from time to time. Your flesh is working to bring you into the captivity of sin again. Yet, there is a radical change in your spirit. Your spirit now has the nature of God and is willing to do the will of God.
