Church History
Faith Christian Center is a satellite of Word of Faith International Christian Center, Southfield, Michigan under the leadership of its founder, Bishop Keith A. Butler and his wife, Pastor Deborah L Butler.
After having a very successful ministry with an attendance of over 13,000 in Detroit, Michigan, Bishop Butler felt impressed of the Lord to open a church in the Atlanta, Georgia area. The Lord began dealing with him concerning Matthew 9:36, "because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd." He started Faith Christian Center, Fayetteville, Georgia in August of 1993. The church began growing at a phenominal rate, as individuals began to embrace the Word of God and minstry of Keith A. Butler.
In October 1996, Faith Christian Center moved to College Park, Georgia, where the church began blossoming as a beacon of light to those in the area, that needed Jesus. Because of the ever-growing attendance, Faith Christian Center only stayed in that building for 2 years (August 1998). Bishop Butler felt it was time to move once again to Smyrna, Georgia, where we currently reside.
In the year 2001, Bishop Butler installed his son, Keith A. Butler II, as Senior Pastor of Faith Christian Center. Under Pastor Butler's leadership, created ministries such as Faith Groups and 620 The Gathering Campus Ministry. The church continued to grow with attendance reaching over 1700 persons per Sunday.
After being led of the Spirit, on August 9, 2009, Bishop Butler installed Joel E. Gregory as Senior Pastor of Faith Christian Center, Smyrna, Georgia. Pastor Joel Gregory has served faithfully under Bishop Keith A. & Pastor Deborah L. Butler for over 14 years, in many different capacities. His wife, Minister Patricia E. Gregory stands beside her husband as his ministerial assistant. Presently, Faith Christian Center conducts two Sunday morning worship services to accommodate the rapidly growing Smyrna congregation, with an attendance of over 3,000.
